A post-Throne of Bhaal Baldur's Gate fanfic. The scars of war run deep, and not every ending is like the epics say.

I remember reading “After” a long time ago and enjoying it for its gritty but realistic descriptions of post ToB life. I’ve always been a fan of bittersweet or anything-but-happily-ever-after epilogues so this was just the right setting for me. I just didn’t know that it was you that wrote it!

Keep up the good work. I’ll be looking for more of your stuff. :)

Just read it and I really liked it! I had to admit this is the first piece of BG fanfic I've read ever so I might be not much of a critic, but I felt the story was vivid, believable and, most important, exciting.

I think you did a good job with this story, and I find it interesting that you are mixing the purest of evil with the most virtuous of good.

A very nice, concise piece here and, though i suspect there's something of a nostalgia trip involved in reading about the characters from BGII again, I really got a sense of Nalia and Viconia's respective personalities, which is quite impressive in the space you chose to allow yourself.

I liked Viconia's nonchalance about gambling with her fate for the night vis-a-vis Nalia - it reminds me of the principle of Borges' "Lottery in Babylon" and the Drow conception of fatalism, subordination and the chaotic randomness of life. As a matter of fact, I got the impression that Viconia had played such games in the past, so that the Babylonian lottery - ie. gambling on real, tangible things like status - would be one way to keep jaded Drow noblewomen entertained. In that sense, it's a great insight into the Drow psyche.

Hi Crimson! Wow, long time no see :) Glad to see you're still around. You should email me and tell me what's up and how things are going ;)

I'm glad the personalities came through decently -- with a short piece (and two characters I don't handle that often), that's always a risk.

I didn't have anything particular in mind regarding Viconia's experience with gambling, but it does indeed sound like a great way to keep jaded people entertained. Ah, what people will do for a bit of thrill ;)

If I didn't know the short timeframe you had to work with I'd consider this an impressive job. Considering the fact that I do know, all I can say is wow.

Good job on molding an unusual premise into a very strong story.

With this caliber of end result you should field tough combos at the last minute more often.

Surprisingly good

I have to admit I really like this. Which is surprising, because I never took much to Jaheira and you’ve captured that certain abrasiveness well. It’s just like her to bluntly call it an unnatural relationship and react the way she does, isn’t it. You’re evil, sucking me into a pairing I’d never liked with excellent writing!

Delightfully Twisted
Posted on Tuesday, 17 March 2009 by Anonymous
Oh dear. How delightfully twisted. Almost a little…too twisted. This can’t be good for poor Imoen’s psyche, who just went through god knows what with Irenicus in Spellhold, and now has to deal with her once-trusted childhood friend.

Your storytelling skill sells this premise quite well. It started out innocently enough, and took a meandering turn down into the conflict between the most basic of emotions and the lure of the forbidden. Very well-written, beautifully vivid and erotic story. I’m glad I stumbled across it while looking for Imoen slash.

I’m a huge fan of the Imoen Romance mod, and indeed, a lot of my Baldur’s Gate fanfiction is based off of it. You should roam around the “Short Stories” section if you haven’t already — there’s more Imoen-inspired stuff!
